Add PDF file to a Product
 

I have a PDf file (a manual of a product we are selling) on my PC. I want to add this document to a Product, so visitors of our webshop can open and print the manual. How do I add the PDF file to a product thats listed within Xcart > Categories > Product ?

Just upload to publicly available directory of the site and then link to it somewhere in product description like

<a href="http://www.mysite.com/public/directory/myfile.pdf" target="_blank">this is pdf file</a>

Use Extra Fields if you want one or more manuals:

Content of the extra field should be your pdf file name on disk (e.g tool_manual, without any .pdf). Then you need to change a little the templates for internal name of those extra fields. You will add the full path inside the template and this will do the job for you.

You can also your html inside Extra Fields as a second solution. But you have to edit your template to place the EF in the right position you want.

This is just basic implementation using the power of Extra Fields. Using the privilege of this post I would like to see product options/attributes (whatever you call'em) like in Magento for XC5. This is a request stored in Ideas for almost 4 years. Product options like Input Text, Date, Image, ... are very powerful inside any shopping cart. Then you can choose where to use these options: sort, search, advanced search, product filtering, product category, product page.
