Changing the path for X-cart Images

So you've made that excellent choice to move your x-cart site away from your crowded old host to Hands-On, but now your product images are broken. Here's why, and how to fix it. Some hosts have so many people on a server that they'll make multiple home directories to help them keep things organized. So instead of your path being something like this:

/home/yourusername/public_html/shop/files/images/ --- your old host had your files in an alternate home directory, such as
/home2/yourusername/public_html/shop/files/images/

Or maybe your old host just had a different directory structure all together. What you know is that the images aren't showing up, that your x-cart update path tool isn't working, and that it would take you forever to fix each entry in the database one by one. Luckily there's an easy fix. One of our admins would be happy to implement this for you if you need help, but for the do-it-yourselfer, here are the steps:

1) Log into cpanel and click on backups. Create a backup of your database just in case.
2) Go back to the main cpanel page and click phpMyAdmin
3) Select your x-cart database
4) Click on SQL and run the following commands, after verifying the old and new paths are correct:

update xcart_thumbnails set image_path = replace(image_path,'home2','home');
update xcart_images set image_path = replace(image_path,'home2',' 'home);
update xcart_icons set image_path = replace(image_path,'home2','home');

This step assumes that your old hosts home directory was called home2 . If it was home3, you'd use home3 in the above commands. If you had some other path, you can tweak the string accordingly, however we are happy to have an admin do this whole procedure for you if you will simply enter a ticket with us requesting it. Once the query is correct, it takes just a few seconds to run and fix whatever path problems you had. Refresh your page and you should now see your images.. and a faster loading store, too. Enjoy!
